The idea was to make the set a character in its own right. This approach allowed the set to visually narrate the story, enhancing the film’s emotional depth and surreal atmosphere.

In her debut short film, Open Season, Camille Boyer examines how the turbulent social climate of the COVID-19 pandemic quietly infiltrated our homes, exerting immense pressure on our private lives and relationships. This cinematic piece delves into the transformation of external chaos into personal turmoil, leaving viewers to ponder what remains once the storm has passed.
crafting chaos
The shooting involved a technique where the set was encased in a barrel and filled with water. The camera was fixed to the spinning barrel, creating an anti-gravity effect as the set rotated. This setup gave the illusion that water and objects were moving upside down, adding a surreal and dreamlike quality to the visuals.
