Whether you’re a scientist or an artist, you’re always trying to understand the world around you. “We link things together and then see what happens. We question what’s in front of our eyes.”
I know what these two things are individually, but if I put them together, will I create something new?
I love spending time in the studio testing materials, exploring, drawing, making things and exchanging ideas.
The projects that speak to me the most are the ones that allow me to take a commercial object and make something new out of it. I interpret it, incorporate other materials into it, craft it. It’s so much more personal that way.
In every project, there’s a moment when everybody second-guesses their own interpretation. “That’s blue.” “Too blue?” “What is blue, exactly?” It makes me laugh; it’s surreal.
