Drinks, drinks, drinks! Exotic, refined, intoxicating and short and sweet, just like this personal series. Singapore takes us back to square one—to the basic crafting of the image—while adding even more depth to Les Garçons’ visual brand.
We originally started talking about the direction for this series as an homage to the colonial-era cocktail bars we saw in Singapore. Tropical, opulent, decadent.
Cocktail culture is rich with legendary moments, famous places, colourful characters, and wild creativity, so there are many layers of inspiration to tap into.
Our personal work this year has been focused on developing a new visual aesthetic of our own, and the process has been very rewarding. It feels like we are participating in a visual conversation.
A great cocktail photo distills a specific moment in time, and tells the human story that’s happening around it, which is usually full of energy and excitement.
The moment of truth was when we stumbled upon the jungle prints. We didn’t even discuss it, we just looked at each other and burst out laughing because we knew how much fun this project was about to be.
