LOBLAWS

Our approach tells the story through two contrasting visual modes, one that’s more realistic and contemporary, full on vibrant color and flavor, and another that is more dreamy and cinematic. In the director’s cut, these more cinematic scenes are in black and white, as a kind of homage to classical Italian cinema.

We’ve been working with our DP Nik Mirus for many years now, and I think this was our most enjoyable collaboration. Together, we created a clear picture in our minds of how the set and light would interact together to create a strong sense of atmosphere and a very specific moment in time.

We don’t often have the opportunity of creating images that are purely lyrical like this. It’s wonderful to have the luxury of making something simple and beautiful.
