For their second collaboration, Mathieu Fortin directs two music videos and creates the images for the cover of Jacque Greene's new album: Dawn Chorus. Amidst the new wave of the '60s, Kaiju and Japanese animation, the photographer takes us for a ride in black and white. Mathieu plays around with various focuses, framings, and angles. He transposes his sensitive approach to photography into video, and the result is elegant and breathtaking, very Mathieu-like.
The photography medium is much like the videography one. The work of a photographer is similar to the one of a director, much more than a director of photography if you ask me. It allows a profound exploration of the characters and the story.
MATHIEU FORTIN
We shot this in black and white and at night to follow the aesthetic and theme of the album. I wanted to honor the dynamic camera of the Nouvelle Vague and Japanese animation that plays with lengths, fast cuts, and fluid movements.
MATHIEU FORTIN
Mathieu Fortin is the photographer behind many of my press photos for the past years. He's also responsible for the cover of my Feel Infinite album. It was, therefore, so natural to let him direct this music clip.
