À L’ombre des Cyprès portrays this flirtatious relationship with depression and the idea of dropping everything into the abyss. The pink monster is a metaphor representing this dark side.

The scene where we see Klo being a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her big pink monster was really important for me: her whole life is in the hands of the monster, a striking image when it comes to their relationship.

The mushroom symbolizes rebirth, the relation to the ALL (mycelium), death and life at the same time.

We wanted to display this grandiose, immense and extraordinary side of nature on the micro and macro levels. It was truly magic to find likeness between streams and roots, between lichen on rocks and a forest on an island.

I loved the collaborative and creative process between two (women) directors. We left a lot of room for each other’ ideas: we listened to one another, had positive and pertinent exchanges, and challenged each other.
