From one paper artist to another, I find it notable to expose the 2D qualities Karim Zariffa has explored in the STM stop-motion project. A lengthy painstaking process involving immense precision & attention to detail to compose, the polished work is a piece that is easy to view, translating the personality of Montrealâs main underground Transport system clearly.
On the topic of Selfridges Windows from last week, I felt inclined to talk about a project that both made me familiar & initiated friendship with fellow set designer & artist Kyle Bean.
Over a year ago I came across a series of windows Kyle put together for Selfridges on the topics of âtransforming matterâ, where giant scales weighed an item in original intended formation to a new one. This one in particular where Honda gave him two motorbikes; one in parts and the other fully assembled.
Totally enamored by Kyleâs work I felt compelled to contact him just to tell him so. Receiving a positive response we began dialogue about the dimensions of his work until meeting in person last February 2011 in London. It was too much fun discuss our creative yearnings over a laugh, a cabaret show and a drink at Circus London with friends.
Composing personalized work for Libertyâs London, Wallpaper & now winning the ADC Young Guns award in New York, I am continuously proud to see someone so genuinely talented & kind to progress the way Kyle hasâŠ. & itâs always a treat to see his new projects up for show.
